Nor’wester wreaks havoc in Odisha’s Malkangiri, 3 critically injured

Malkangiri: More than 50 houses were damaged and at least three persons sustained critical injuries after trees fell on their houses during nor’wester in Khairput block of Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

Vehicular movement came to a grinding halt on Malkangiri-Jeypore road as large tree branches broke and fell on road due to the nature’s fury.

Meanwhile, lightning strike claimed life of a 22-year-old youth, identified as Krushna Harijan of Jabaguda village under Dabugaon police limits in Nabarangpur district, while he was brushing teeth in front of his house this morning.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre predicted thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Gajapati districts by 12.45 PM today.
