Notice served to coaching centre in Odisha for kneeling down students

Nayagarh: The District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) of Odisha’s Nayagarh district today served a show cause notice to authorities of a private coaching centre at Bada Pandusar village under Itamati police limits in the district for kneeling down students.

The DCPO has asked the concerned coaching centre authorities to file its response to the notice within 36 hours, informed Nayagarh District Collector Arindam Dakua.

Notably, four/five days back, teachers at the coaching centre had made three students kneel down on the Khordha-Bolangir national highway.

The matter came to light after a picture of the incident was posted on social media platforms.

After which the District Collector had ordered appropriate authorities for a probe into the matter. Following the District Collector’s order, Project Coordinator of Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan and officials of the District Child Protection Unit visited the concerned coaching centre for inquiry.

The officials have submitted their report to the District Collector after visiting the concerned coaching centre, said an official source.
