Notorious criminal injured in police encounter in Odisha’s Cuttack

Athagarh: Dreaded criminal Bhabagrahi Panda was injured in an encounter with police at Haridaposhi forest under Tigiria police limits in Athagarh area of Odisha’s Cuttack district late last night.

He was initially admitted to Athagarh hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.

According to police sources, acting on a tip-off about presence of Panda in the forest, Tigiria police reached the spot to nab him.

Realising arrival of policemen, Panda opened fire at the cops.

The police retaliated by firing back in which Panda sustained bullet injuries on his two legs.

Officer in Charge (OIC) of Tigiria PS was reportedly injured the the exchange of fire.

Several criminal cases, including bombing and attempt to murder, are pending against Panda at various police stations, the sources added.
