NRO looted of Rs 10 lakh in city

Bhubaneswar, Oct 4:

An NRO Odia based in Kuwait was allegedly looted of gold ornaments and cash amounting to Rs 10 lakh during his stay in a city lodge near the railway station on Wednesday evening.

According to the FIR filed with the Kharavel Nagar police station on Thursday, Pradipta Khatua of Pattamundai in Kendrapada district who works with the Kuwait Airlines had landed in Bhubaneswar along with his wife Sasmita Khatua on Wednesday evening and booked a room in Bhagya Palace, a lodge near the Bhubaneswar railway station.

After checking in  the couple went out for shopping, leaving  behind their baggage containing cash and gold ornaments in the room. But when they returned around 10.30 pm, they found, to their horror, that all their valuables had been stolen.

The police , after receiving Kahatua’s complaint raided the lodge and detained three persons including the owner of the  lodge Bhagyadhar Sahu, a resident of Konark, for interrogation.
