Bhubaneswar, Jul 24:

Dozens of activists of Odisha unit of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) today staged a demonstration in front of the official residence of state Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak alleging failure of government in containing the dengue situation.

Congress protests

Some of the activists of the Congress backed institution, led by its president Itish Pradhan, pelted tomatoes at the house and burnt the effigy of the Minister.

“More than 2000 people have been affected by the disease and are under treatment across the state. The government has failed miserably to address the situation. The Health Minister should resign under moral grounds. NSUI would oppose him and pelt tomatoes wherever he goes, should he stick on to his chair,” said Pradhan.

Speaking to reporters, another leader of NSUI blamed the central team that recently visited the state to review the dengue situation here.

“We have all seen televised footage of the members drowsing during the review meeting. That explains how serious the central team is for the dengue situation here”.
