Nursing college students allege harassment by principal in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: A principal of a private nursing college in Odisha capital has been detained by police for allegedly sexually harassing students for the past few months.

The matter came to light when a student lodged a complaint with Khandagiri police here alleging she was harassed, abused and threatened by her college principal.

Following this, around 15 students also levelled similar allegation against the accused.

The incident took place at Indira Institute of Medical Science and Research, which is located at GA Colony in Bharatpur under Khandagiri police limits.

According to police, Kodanda Dhara Sahu, 35, who was the founder and principal of the college, had allegedly harassed some students. When it became unbearable, a student today sought police intervention.

More than 20 students and some locals gathered near the police station demanding immediate arrest and exemplary action against the accused.

Acting as per the complaint, the Khandagiri police have detained the college principal. Further investigation into the incident is on.
