Odia Air Marshal Dilip Patnaik receives Ati Vishisht Seva Medal

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Air Marshal Dilip Kumar Patnaik from Odisha received Ati Vishisht Seva Medal from President Ram Nath Kovind during a programme at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi today.

The Odia Air Force Officer was conferred with the prestigious award for distinguished service of an exceptional order.

Patnaik was nominated for the Ati Vishist Seva Medal in 2020.

Recently, Air Marshal Dilip Patnaik was appointed as the Air Officer Commanding in Chief of Eastern Air Command. He is the first Odia Air Marshal to have been elevated to the prestigious position in Indian Air Force Service.

Patnaik hails from Bhubaneswar. He is the alumnus of Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 and DM School, Bhubaneswar.

Earlier, Patnaik was conferred with the Vayu Sena Medal for gallantry during Kargil Operations in 1999.

He was commissioned into Fighter Stream of the Indian Air Force on June 8, 1984. During his career in the IAF, he has flown a variety of fighter and trainer aircrafts including the Mirage 2000 and Mig 21.
