Bhubaneswar: A middle-aged woman was killed on the spot and three more sustained grievous injuries today evening after a car in which they were traveling had a head-on collision with a speeding truck on Baranga-Chandaka road behind Botanical Garden near Nandankanan Zoo in Bhubaneswar.
According to an eyewitness, the ill-fated car (bearing registration number OD-34 N-4433) was hit by the truck (bearing registration number OD-02 CC-5936). Four members of a family and the driver were in the vehicle. The car was on its way from Jajpur to elsewhere when the vehicle met with an accident leading to the untimely death. Driver of the car and two of the family were injured in the incident.
“The truck was being driven by an inexperienced person who does not have a valid license. Four persons were on board the truck that jumped a road divider and then hit the car. The person driving the truck was taking a test drive of the vehicle,” some locals present at the accident site expressed.
On being informed by some locals, Baranga police reached the spot and recovered the woman’s body. The three injured were sent to a nearby health facility for treatment by an ambulance vehicle.
Baranga police have seized the two vehicles and launched a probe into the road mishap.
