Odisha: 2 cinema halls sealed for COVID-19 norms violation

Paralakhemundi: The Gajapati district administration today sealed two cinema halls for violation of COVID-19 guidelines.

A team of district officials conducted raid and sealed Jaya and Lakhmi cinema halls in the town for indefinite period. They also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each for violation of the safety norms.

The theatres were flouting COVID guidelines by not ensuring social distancing and a huge rush was found at the site, said Tehsildar Achyut Jani adding, “The halls were functioning without having proper licenses. we will further investigate and punish them accordingly.”

Yesterday, a cinema hall in Rayagada district was sealed for COVID-19 norms violation.
