Odisha +2 exam begins at 1104 centres amid tight security

Bhubaneswar: The annual +2 examination conducted by the Odisha Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) began today at 1104 exam centres across the state amid tight security.

While the first day of the examination featured English paper of Science and Commerce streams, the exam for Arts stream will start from tomorrow with the same subject.

A total of 3,65,826 students have been enrolled for the exam this year. Around 202 examination management hubs have been set up.

Following the incident of Odisha Matric exam question papers getting circulated on WhatsApp, the CHSE has issued letters to all the superintendents of +2 examination centres over ban on mobile phones.

The superintendents have been instructed to ban entry of mobile phones and other electronic devices into the examination hall. The prohibition will be applicable on candidates, invigilators and other staff.

The superintendents will only be allowed to use mobile phones to remain in contact with authorities, the letter said. If required, the superintendents may create a cloak room for keeping the mobile phones of staff only, the letter added.

“All precautionary measures be taken so that groups/crowds do not gather around the examination centre. Strict vigil should be kept in and around the examination centre so that question papers do not go out of the centre during the hours of the examination,” the letter read.

The examination will conclude on March 29.
