Odisha: Man axes wife, daughter to death before killing self

Jagatsinghpur: In a shocking incident, a man ended his life after attacking his wife and daughter with a sharp weapon in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.

While his daughter succumbed to injuries, condition of his wife is stated to be critical.

Reportedly, one Lokanath Pal of Chanda Patana village under Jagatsinghpur police limits in the district attacked his wife Kalpana and daughter Lucky with an axe in wee hours today. Later, he hanged himself to death with a rope in the house.

Critically-injured Kalpana and Lucky were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where doctors declared the latter brought dead.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident. Though the exact reason is yet to be ascertained, poverty is suspected to have led to the incident.
