Rayagada: At least seven families were rendered homeless after a major fire broke out at Chintalguda village under Gunupur block in Rayagada district late last night.

However, no casualty or injury was reported in the incident.

Source said a fire broke out in a house when the family members were in deep sleep and quickly spread to neighbouring houses. At least 20 rooms were gutted in the fire. However, the cause behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained.

On receiving information, fire officials rushed to the spot and doused the flames. Meanwhile, Revenue officials reached and were estimating the loss of property due to the mishap till last reports came in.
