Odisha: 7,258 students to get scholarship under KALIA Chhatra Brutti

Bhubaneswar: More than 7,000 children of farmers in the state will receive scholarship under the KALIA Chhatra Brutti scheme this year. Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo informed this after a review meeting held at Krushi Bhawan here today.

Speaking to media, Sahoo said out of 19,247 applications received for the scheme, 7,258 have been shortlisted for the scheme.

“7,258 students of total 19,247 applicants will get scholarship for undertaking several professional courses in government-run colleges across Odisha” the Minister said.

Earlier this year, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during a farmers’ congregation had announced that state Government will bear education expenses of children of KALIA scheme beneficiaries. Under the scheme, children of farmers who have taken admission in Government-run professional colleges are eligible to receive scholarship.
