Odisha approves renewal of health insurance scheme for journalists

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today approved renewal of “Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana” – a health insurance scheme for working journalists in the state.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the insurance scheme last year.

On his first day at office, Information and Public Relations Minister Raghunandan Das approved the renewal of the Health Insurance Scheme.

Notably, as many as 3,233 working journalists from across the state have been registered for health insurance under the yojana, which was implemented from June 1, 2018.

Working journalists get health insurance coverage of up to Rs 2 lakh a year under the scheme.

At least five members of a journalist’s family covered under the scheme.
