Odisha asks HRD Min to set up NUEPA centre in Bhubaneswar

New Delhi /Bhubaneswar, July 2:

Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra today urged the Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani to set up a extension centre of National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) in Bhubaneswar.

Devi Mishra meets Smriti IraniMishra, who met Irani in New Delhi today, said the state government would provide all the support to set up NUEPA centre at Bhubaneswar, which would help in imparting educational training and research in eastern India.

Mishra also discussed various issues relating to the education sector  in the state and asked for more funds.

The minister said the Central government needs to bear 75% share for programmes under the Sarvasikshya Abhiyan instead of the present 65%.

He also urged to allocate the funds sanctioned under 13th Finance Commission,  including Rs 204 crore for 2012-13.
Besides, the minister asked the Centre  to release Rs 1500 crore for the construction of dining halls in schools and also to provide LPG linkage to 47,755 schools.

The Union HRD Minister Irani has reportedly assured Mishra  of all support to the state government for the development of the  education sector in Odisha.
