Odisha Assembly condoles Kalindi Behera’s death

The Odisha Assembly today condoled the death of five-time MLA and former minister Kalindi Behera.

Moving a condolence motion in the House, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said; “We are all distressed by the sad demise of Kalindi Babau. He was a popular leader and held important portfolios as a minister. I express my deep condolences to the beraeved family.”

Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra also condoled Behera’s death saying he had the opportunity of walking with the late leader as a colleague in the Biju Patnaik government.

Leader of BJP Legislature party Basanta Kumar Panda also expressed his condolences at the death of Behera saying the veteran leader was like an elder brother to him.

The House observed a two-minute silence before the condolence motion was adopted.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was among the many leaders, who paid their last respects to Behera at his Nayapalli residence here.

Family sources said his body would be taken to his native village in Salepur where hw will be cremated.
