Odisha Assembly passes three bills

The Odisha Assembly today passed three important bills and introduced the Odisha Open University Bill amid uproar and Opposition walkout .

The three bills— Odisha Cooperative Societies Amendment Bill 2014, Indian Stamp (Odisha Amendment) Bill 2014, Burla NAC Tenure Reduction Bill—were passed in the House after it reassembled at 3 PM.

Apart from this, the Odisha Open University Bill was introduced in the House for discussion while the House referred the Odisha Survey and Consolidation Bill to the Select Committee.

However, the House could run for just 29 minutes as the Opposition members created uproar and staged a walkout demanding the Speaker to allow discussion on chit fund issue and presentation of bill in Odia language.

Unable to run the House, the Speaker adjourned the House till tomorrow.
