Odisha Assembly: Ruckus by Opp over irregularities in conduct of TAC meet

Bhubaneswar: Opposition Congress members today created ruckus in the Odisha Assembly over irregularities in conduct of Tribal Advisory Council (TAC) meeting, resulting in multiple adjournments in the House.

During the Question Hour, Congress MLA Bhujabal Majhi raised the matter saying that the TAC meeting should be held once in every six months but it has been conducted 15 times during the last 17 years.

Later, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra, being not satisfied with the reply of ST & SC Development Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi that meetings could not be held at regular intervals due to unavoidable reasons, said the state government is not concerned about the welfare of the tribals and it should apologise over the irregularities in conduct of the meetings besides giving assurance regarding holding the same in every six months.

Several Congress members then rushed to the well of the House and created uproar over the issue forcing Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat to adjourn the House initially till 11.30 am and later till 3 pm. The members also demanded the Speaker’s ruling over the matter.
