Odisha: At 44.5 degrees Celsius, Sonepur records season’s highest day temperature

Bhubaneswar: The State continued to reel under intense heat condition as 19 places recorded day temperature 40 degrees Celsius or above today. Of them, six places recorded maximum temperature at 43 degrees Celsius or above.

As per the data provided by the Regional Meteorological Centre here, Sonepur recorded the season’s highest day temperature at 44.5 degrees Celsius. Yesterday, Sonepur’s maximum temperature was at 44.4 degrees Celsius.

The weather stations where mercury hovered at 43 degrees Celsius or above are as follows: Balangir – 44 degrees Celsius, and Titlagarh, Sundargarh, Boudh and Jharsuguda – 43 degrees Celsius.

Other places where the day temperature was 40 degrees Celsius or above are: Sambalpur – 42.4 degrees Celsius, Angul – 42.1 degrees Celsius, Nuapada and Bhawanipatna – 41.5 degrees Celsius, Talcher – 41.4 degrees Celsius, Hirakud – 41 degrees Celsius, Paralakhemundi – 40.8 degrees Celsius, Bargarh and Keonjhar – 40.6 degrees Celsius, Bhadrak – 40.5 degrees Celsius, Baripada – 40.4 degrees Celsius, and Nayagarh and Malkangiri – 40 degrees Celsius.

Yesterday, 21 places in the State recorded maximum temperature at 40 degrees Celsius or above.
