Odisha: Bank manager, cashier held for embezzling over Rs one crore

Bhawanipatna: Police today arrested the manager of Utkal Grameen Bank’s Motei branch and its cashier in Koksara area of Odisha’s Kalahandi district for allegedly embezzling Rs 1.23 crore.

The arrested have been identified as Praveen Ranjan Thakur, the manager, and cashier Lalit Sabar.

The accused duo had allegedly transferred the amount to several bank accounts in different phases. After the regional manager of the bank came to know about the incident, he filed a police complaint.

On the basis of the complaint, police questioned the two during which they confessed that they were lured by a ponzi scheme and transferred the money to the accounts of the particular ponzi firm.
