Odisha: BJD to stage demo near Raj Bhawan against fuel price hike

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will stage a demonstration near Raj Bhawan on October 1 protesting the rise in prices of petrol and diesel, informed party’s General Secretary Arun Sahoo.

Members of Biju Yuva Janata Dal, party’s youth wing; Biju Chhatra Janata Dal, party’s student wing and Biju Mahila Janata Dal, party’s women wing will participate in the demonstration, Sahoo said.

The party had earlier staged protest against the hike in prices of petrol and diesel across the state from September 7 to 9 for awareness of fuel consumers.

Notably, BJD has been holding the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre responsible for the hike. Taking a dig at the saffron party, the BJD said that the BJP’s ‘Mission 120’ (target of winning at least 120 seats in the 2019 Assembly Polls in Odisha), will be accomplished after the fuel price reaches Rs 120 per litre.
