Odisha BJP leader’s residence raided in land fraud case

Baripada: The Commissionerate Police raided the residence of Mayurbhanj BJP president Krushna Chandra Mohapatra in connection with a land sale fraud and cheque bounce case here late on Friday night.

A team of Bhubaneswar Infocity police with help of Baripada Town police conducted raid on residence of Mohapatra at around 3 am at Hudco colony.

However, the police returned with empty hands as the BJP leader had fled the spot.

According to reports, Mohapatra had received Rs 1 crore advance amount from a person to sell his land in Bhubaneswar. However, he sold the land to another party. When the person asked the BJP man for the amount paid to him, he gave a cheque, which was later bounced in the bank.

The victim had lodged a complaint with Infocity police against Mohapatra alleging fraud in land sale. The Commissionerate police along with Baripada police raided Mohapatra’s house after the court issued a warrant yesterday.
