Odisha BJP MLAs to forego sitting fees for Assembly winter session

Bargarh, Dec 7:

The BJP today decided to forego the sitting fees of its party MLAs for the winter session of the Odisha Assembly that ended recently without transacting any business halfway.

“We announce that all legislators of BJP have decided to forego their sitting fees for the winter session of the State Assembly since no business was transacted in this session. Since we could not raise any issues concerning the general public of Odisha during the winter session, we will submit applications to the Speaker to forego our sitting fees,” state BJP president KV Singhdeo told reporters after the conclusion of the party’s zonal level review meeting here.

At the meeting, the party leaders called upon the cadres to strengthen the party base in the state in the coming days.

The party has set a target to enroll 40 lakh members in the by the end of March next year.

The party’s zonal meeting was attended by office bearers of 12 western Odisha districts apart from senior leader Suresh Pujari and the party’s Odisha unit in-charge Arun Singh.
