Odisha BJP MLAs to visit Delhi seeking ED, CBI probe into corruption

Bhubaneswar: The BJP MLAs in Odisha will visit Delhi to discuss with central leadership seeking an Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CBI investigation into massive corruption in the state.

A 22-member delegation led by Leader of Opposition Jayanarayan Mishra will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the party’s national president JP Nadda over alleged rampant corruption during the BJD Government in Odisha. The date will be finalised soon.

“We will head for Delhi soon to meet the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and party president regarding corruption in the state. The present government here is not functioning as per the constitution. Right from peons to IAS officers, all work for a single party. We have prepared a memorandum in this regard and will hand it over to these three during the meetings,” Mishra told reporters today.

“Odisha has been engulfed in corruption. While ED and CBI are investigating many corruption cases in other states, why are they not visiting here? We will meet the central leadership over this matter,” the senior BJP leader said.

Odisha Congress sharply reacted to the statement and described BJP an ally of BJD.

“The BJP and BJD are brothers. The BJP members will visit Delhi to misguide people of Odisha. After their return, neither CBI nor ED will come here for investigation. So far, nothing happened in crores worth chitfund and mining scams in Odisha. During BJP-BJD alliance in the state, hectares of land was given to Vedanta for a project. When the Supreme Court ordered to return the land to the owners, no action was taken on this order,” alleged Odisha Congress president Sarat Pattanayak.
