With less than two weeks to go before the winter session of Odisha Assembly begins, Odisha unit of BJP today released a “chargesheet” against BJD led state government highlighting its failures across several dimensions.

Launching the booklet at party’s state headquarters in Bhubaneswar, state unit President Basant Panda raked up issues such as farmer suicide, teacher agitation, unemployment, Nagada deaths and failing security situation among others.

“Odisha is underperforming across several development parameters. Should Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik not be held responsible for this? The Chief Minister announced construction of 10 lakh pucca houses within 2 years. Is it not false? Why doesn’t he make the beneficiary list public? As many as 41 percent of the families in the state are yet to receive electricity connection. Whopping 15,000 villages do not have road connectivity,” said Panda.

He further criticized the State Government for its “central negligence” rhetoric.

“Odisha, under Narendra Modi’s government, has been receiving more funds than any other preceding government. There has been no dearth of funds. The inept State Government has not even been able to utilize the funds properly. It is running its schemes with Central funding yet cries hoarse of Central negligence,” lambasted Panda.

Biju Janata Dal Spokesperson Shashi Bhusan Behera, on the other hand, downplayed the “chargesheet” and called it a “preparatory event before Amit Shah’s upcoming visit to the state to ensure that he doesn’t appreciate Naveen Patnaik once again”.
