Odisha BJP stages protest against percentage commission

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of BJP today staged a protest against collection of percentage commission (PC) in government work orders.

A demonstration was staged by the activists of the saffron party at Master Canteen Square here.

The party has demanded that the total amount of PC collected during the 17 years of BJD rule in Odisha be returned to the state exchequer.

Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had recently asked district collectors to stop collecting PC from contractors for undertaking government work orders at block level.

This apart, Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly and senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra had urged the CM to take immediate steps for appointment of Lokayukta if he is really serious to abolish PC in government offices.
