Odisha bound Rajdhani Express catches fire in New Delhi

The Odisha bound New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express today caught fire at about 1 PM while the train was stationed at New Delhi dockyard. The fire also affected the Sealdah Rajdhani Express.

There have been no casualties or injuries as the coaches were empty.

While the reason for the fire is not yet known, electrical short-circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.

Eyewitnesses claim the trains caught fire while cleaning and maintenance work was going on. An investigation committee has been formed to investigate the cause of fire.

Nine fire container engine of Railways and 16 fire extinguisher vehicles of fire services department have been deployed to contain the fire.  The situation is under control now, Railway officials said.

Four coaches of Sealdah Rajdhani Express and two coaches of Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express have been affected by the fire, officials said.
