Bhubaneswar: Odisha boy Deepak Mohanta has been selected to play in Indian Junior Players T-20 League to be held in Dubai from September 19 to 29.
Deepak hailing from MCL Colony, Bandhabahal under Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district will represent Bangalore Stars in the under-18 category.
He is among the final list of 15 players shortlisted to play for Bangalore Stars.
Selection of players for the tournament was held in January and the final list was drawn up in August.
The tournament will be held at Dubai’s International Cricket Stadium.
Top cricketers Jonty Rhodes, Kieron Pollard, Rishi Dhawan and Paras Dogra are the brand ambassadors of the tournament.
Teams are scheduled to leave from Bengaluru for Dubai on Thursday.
Deepak who has earlier represented at district, state and national level is a final year student of diploma in mechanical engineering.
While pursuing the course at a polytechnic here, he is an active member of Sahid Sporting Club.
