Odisha Cabinet to discuss 10 proposals today

The Odisha Cabinet will discuss 10 proposals at a meeting scheduled here this afternoon.

odisha cabinet meetingThe meeting, to be presided over by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here, would begin at 5 pm.

The meeting would deliberate on the amendment to the Odisha Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) Act, 2007. If amended, there would be provision for 10 percent reservation of seats under the management quota in private professional institutes.

A sub-committee, formed under the chairmanship of Debi Prasad Mishra in 2012, had recommended 10 percent reservation of seats under the management quota in private engineering colleges. The cabinet is likely to give its approval to the recommendation of the sub committee today.

This apart, the cabinet will also take a decision on the amendments in the Odisha Administrative Service Rules, Odisha Food Processing Policy, fixation of cadres in the Health department and selection of members in the Odisha Public Service Commission.

It will also discuss the proposal on withdrawal of VAT from the export of groundnut and sunflower seeds and vocational training under the financial assistance by the Asian Development Bank, official sources said.
