Odisha capital to get Clean City award

Barely a fortnight after it emerged as the topper among the cities in the Smart City Mission, the Odisha capital is all set to add another feather to its cap as its been chosen as one of the cleanest cities in the country.

The temple city will be declared as ‘Clean City’ among 75 top cities of the country under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA). The programme will be organised by Ministry of Urban Development at the National Media Centre at New Delhi on Monday.

In a written communiqué to BMC, the SBA Mission Director Praveen Prakash said, I am delighted o inform you that your city has been selected as one of the winners to be felicitated during a press conference to be addressed by Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Monday.

The officials of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will receive the award from Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu.

A Swachh Sarvekshan Survey conducted by the Quality Council of India has considered Bhubaneswar as one of the cleanest cities in the country.

Notably, a nation-wide survey on sanitation was conducted last year to promote a spirit of competition among 75 top cities across India to ensure cleanliness.
