Odisha: CBI busts fake railway job racket, 3 arrested

Bhubaneswar: A fake railway recruitment racket was busted today and three persons, including one from Odisha have been arrested in this connection, police said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has busted an inter-state gang who were running a fake website in the name of railway recruitment board and had duped many job aspirants.

The arrested persons were identified as Narayan Patra, a resident of Kolkata, Govind Sinha of Howrah of West Bengal and Kishore Chandra Prashan, a resident of Cuttack in Odisha.

The three accused are being brought to Delhi after taking transit remand from jurisdictional courts, the agency said.

The CBI conducted searches at six places in Odisha and West Bengal. During search, the agency seized some documents such as application forms filled up by some victims, mobile phones and laptops, among others.

Elaborating on the modus operandi, the agency said the accused had opened a fake website in the name of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), which is the exact copy of the official website. The candidates were instructed to fill up applications and submit academic documents, photographs and identification proofs.

A case was registered under sections 491, 468, 471 of IPC and section 66D of IT Act, 2000 on a complaint from the RVNL at R.K. Puram police station in Delhi.
