Odisha Chief Secretary given 6-month service extension

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra today got an approval from the Centre for extension of his term for another six months.

Mahapatra, a 1986-batch Odisha cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, was appointed as the State’s Chief Secretary on December 25, 2020.

The Department of Personnel and Training under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievance and Pensions today approved a proposal given by the Odisha government on extension of Mahapatra’s tenure as Chief Secretary of the State.

The Odisha government had proposed the Centre for extension of Mahapatra’s service on December 31, 2021.

It is worth to mention that Mahapatra’s superannuation date was February 28, 2022.
