The Commission’s secretary Debraj Rout submitted the interim report in a sealed cover to the principal secretary of the Home department Asit Tripathy at the state secretariat.

“The report is on small investors,” Debraj Rout, the Commission’s secretary told reporters after submitting the report.

Sources said the Commission in its report has recommended the process on how to refund money to small depositors who had lost their money to chit fund firms.

The Commission has prepared the interim report on the basis of 26,976 affidavits out of the more than 8 lakh affidavits filed with it, sources added.

The Commission after identifying small investors with below Rs 10,000 deposits has sent show cause notices to 85 Ponzi firms for refunding money to depositors.

While some of the companies have appeared before the Commission, some are yet to appear before it.

The Commission in the report has also recommended action against these firms, sources revealed.

Notably, the state government on July 9, 2013, formed a one-man commission headed by retired judge of Orissa High Court Justice RK Patra to probe the chit fund scam.

After the sudden demise of Justice Patra, the state government on February 5, 2015, appointed retired Judge of Orissa High Court Justice MM Das as the head of the commission.
