Chit fund probe: CBI seeks logistics support from Odisha govt

The CBI on Friday urged the Odisha government to provide necessary logistics support to expedite the probe into the multi-crore chit-fund scam in the state.
CBI LogoCBI DIG S Bagchi met special secretary, Home, Lalit Das at the State Secretariat here and handed over a letter asking for an office space and vehicles along with other infrastructure facilities for the functioning of its office in the city.
Bagchi made a request for two government quarters, office assets including computers, 10 vehicles, vehicle parking place, 10 investigating officers.
He also asked for deployment of Odisha police for the protection of the officials during the probe.
“We have informed the GA department to make necessary arrangements and directed the State Police Headquarters to provide vehicles for the purpose,” Das said.
Bagchi later visited CBI Special Court here and discussed with lawyers and others officials in the court the smooth investigation and speedy trial of the case.
Later, he met Crime Branch ADG Bijay Kumar Sharma in Cuttack and discussed various aspects of the case.
