Hansda appeared before CBI office at around 10.45 am today and was immediately closeted with officers of the central agency. He was let off after a round of questioning.

On October 26 he had presented himself before CBI and was grilled for close to four hours.

He was soon followed by former BJP MLA from Nuapada Hitesh Bagarti and former BJD MLA from Keonjhar Subarna Nayak. They are being questioned now.

Though there is no official word on the line of questioning, sources said they are being asked about their connections with the Nabadiganta Capital Financial Services, a chit fund company in which they were once the directors.

The BJD MP Hansda, sources said, was questioned about the Rs 28 lakh seized by the CBI in cash from his Rairangpur residence during the raid in July. Hansda had initially claimed that it was his ‘own money’ that he had kept for renovation of his house but later on October 26 he changed his stand and said the money belonged to his supporters.

The Managing Director of the company Anjan Kumar Baliarsingh and two of its directors – Kartikeya Parida and Pradeep Patnaik arrested on October 26– are now in Jharpada jail after their bail plea was rejected by special CBI court on November 1.
