Odisha chit fund scam: BJD washes hands off Pravat Tripathy

Hours after the appearance of Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy in the CBI office in the Odisha’s capital this afternoon, the BJD virtually washed its hands of the senior leader making it clear that Tripathy alone would be responsible for his act.

“The CBI investigation into the chit fund scam is on and the law will take its course. The Banki MLA would be responsible for his act,” BJD spokespersons Amar Satpathy said. 

He claimed Tripathy’s brush with the law will not undermine the image of the party or its its supremo Naveen Patnaik. “Why should it affect the image of the party or the leader if someone does something wrong? The party did not ask anybody to indulge in this. Mr. Naveen Patnaik has always been for transparency and for the guilty to be punished,” Satpathy said.
