Odisha chit fund scam: CBI grills Seashore CMD’s son

Pradeep Dash, son of Seashore Group CMD Prashant Dash, appeared before the CBI today for interrogation in connection with the mega chit fund scam in Odisha.

This is the second time Pradeep is appearing before the CBI, which is investigating the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha following Supreme Court orders.

Pradeep had appeared before the CBI last Sunday, though he had denied being interrogated by the CBI during his last visit. He had claimed that he had come to the CBI to hand over some hom emade food to his father.

However, sources had then said he was seen in the interrogation room with his father and was interrogated. Reliable sources said he was questioned by the CBI as he looked after company affairs after his father’s arrest.

Pradeep’s was still being interrogated when reports last came it. He had been with CBI sleuths for an hour by then.

Seashore training head Tanuja Mohanty also reached the CBI office for quesioning at about 12.30 pm.

CBI sources said he is being quizzed on the possible political links of Seashore Group and the diversion of funds from the company. The CBI is believed to have gor some vital clues on the diversion of Seashore funds during the simultaneous raids at various places affiliated with the company one way or the other yesterday.

The CBI could also question him on the Rs 9 crore that Seashore had paid to Bhubaneswar Institute of Technology (BIT), a city based technical institute.

Meanwhile, a medical test was conducted on Subhankar Nayak, who was arrested yesterday evening for his links with Seashore, by Dr Bansidhar Nayak of the Capital Hospital this morning. Nayak would be forwarded to the court in the afternoon.

The health condition of Nayak is fine, Dr Nayak said.
