Odisha chit fund scam: EOW arrests fourth Flourish India director

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch police today arrested Pradeep Kumar Dash, one of the directors of Flourish India Limited, a chit fund company that is alleged to have duped investors of at least Rs 60 crore.

“He will be forwarded to the court today,” EOW DIG Sanjay Kumar said. Cases had been registered by duped investors against the company in Baliguda in Kandhamal district in 2012 and in Barpali in 2013, he said.

Das is the fourth director of the company to be arrested by the EOW. Among the four is the company’s chairman cum managing director (CMD) Prasanna Dash. Altogether 13 employees of the company, including the four directors, have been arrested so far, he said.

“We have written to the Finance department of the Odisha government for attachment of 251 acres of land belonging to the company. We have also seized two vehicles and Rs 1.52 lakh in the company accounts,” Kumar said.

Reports that the Gayatri Science College also belongs to the company are being probed, he said.
