The special chit fund court here today allowed the Gujarat police to take Oscar Group chairman Prabhas Chandra Rout and firm’s General Manager Muna Patra on a 9-day remand.

A team of Gujarat police with the help of Lalbagh police had yesterday conducted search at an office of the company at Sector-1 here. According to reports, a fresh fraud case has been registered against Rout at Vapi police station in Gujarat.

Notably, Rout is accused of defrauding customers to the tune of Rs 230 crore in Odisha, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The Group had allegedly duped depositors to the tune of Rs 100 crore from 2013 to 2015 in Gujarat alone.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch had arrested Rout from New Delhi on June 10 this year.
