While the police on Monday detained two minors in connection with the fire in the Green Ray International Ltd (GRIL) office building at Jaleswar town in Odisha’s Baleswar district, in another major development, the Chhattisgarh police arrested a director of the company from Rajasthan.
The Chhattisgarh police on Monday arrested the Green Ray director Ayub Shah from Ajmer in Rajasthan.
The Raipur SP Om Prakash Pal said Shah was planning to flee to Nigeria via Bangladesh. However, acting on a tip-off, a special investigation team from Chhattisgarh nabbed him at Ajmer while he was on his way to Kolkata.
The SP said the GRIL had collected over Rs 200 crore from the people in Chhattisgarh.
Besides, the company had also swindled over Rs 500 crore from around 1.5 lakh customers in Odisha.
Two minor boys nabbed in Jaleswar
According to reports, while searching the Green Ray office building after dousing the fire, the police and the fire brigade teams nabbed the two minors, who were found hiding under a table in the upper floor.
Investigation is on to find out how and with what intention these two minors managed to enter the office building where the fire had broken out. The police are also looking at the possibility of their involvement in the incident of fire, sources said.
