Odisha cine actress Aparajita Mohanty to join BJP

Bhubaneswar: Another Odisha cine star is going to be inducted into the BJP as Ollywood actress Aparajita Mohanty will join the party on February 19, informed BJP spokesperson Pitambar Acharya today.

Mohanty had on February 13 resigned from the Congress party and speculations were rife that she might join the saffron party.

Aparajita had joined the Congress just ahead of the 2014 General Elections. The national party had fielded the veteran actress from Cuttack parliamentary constituency but she was defeated by BJD’s Bhartruhari Mahtab by over two lakh votes.

Worth mentioning, Ollywood actor Mihir Das, actresses Anu Choudhury and Mahasweta Ray had joined BJP recently.

Meanwhile, former BJD leader Sanat Gadatia today joined BJP at a ‘Mishran Parv‘ at the bypoll-bound Bijepur in Bargarh district in the presence of Union Minister and BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan, state BJP president Basant Panda and Ashok Panigrahi, party’s candidate for the byelection.
