Odisha: Civic authorities in Cuttack open ‘RRR’ centre; know why

Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) today opened a ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ (RRR) centre at its office ahead of the World Environment Day, scheduled to be observed on June 5.

CMC Commissioner Nikhil Pavan Kalyan inaugurated the RRR centre at Bikash Bhawan, the office of the civic body in the Silver City here.

The civic authorities have urged the residents of the city to deposit their surplus, unused or waste materials at the RRR centre.

“Citizens can deposit plastic items and used clothes, footwear and toys at the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle centre. We will hand over the items to different stakeholders. Some of these items will be reused while others may be recycled to create new products,” said the CMC Commissioner.

The CMC has planned to open RRR centres across the city to collect unused and waste materials from the people, sources said.

“The initiative has been taken in accordance with a nationwide campaign ‘Meri LiFE, Mera Swachh Shehar’ for protecting and conserving the environment by adopting sustainable living habits,” said the CMC Commissioner.
