Bhubaneswar: Aiming at strengthening the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Odisha capital, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved 416 additional posts for the civic body.

With the creation of new posts, the BMC can be more efficient in providing basic facilities to residents in the capital city, a release from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) stated.

Earlier, the number of sanctioned posts in BMC was 210. With the approval of additional posts, the total number of posts increased to 626.

According to the release, the number of Additional Commissioner (Administration) posts has been increased to 4 in BMC following the approval of 3 additional posts.

The government also created 6 new Zonal Commissioner posts, 13 new Deputy Commissioner posts, 9 new Assistant Commissioner (sanitation) posts, 11 new posts in accounts, 4 new posts in planning, 17 posts in engineering (works), 5 in sanitation (engineering), 20 posts in drainage, 2 in mechanical, 1 in law, 2 in Public Relations, 7 in beautification and landscaping, 4 in animal welfare, 13 in social welfare, 1 in disaster and emergency service, 19 in enforcement, 93 ministerial staff, and new 187 posts in ward office of the BMC.
