Odisha CM attacks national political parties again

Bhubaneswar: Yet again BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik mounted a scathing attack on national political parties today, this time holding them responsible for creating an atmosphere of uncertainty in all sectors in the country.

“Today an atmosphere of uncertainty has been created in all sectors. Policies of the national political parties are responsible for this,” Patnaik said addressing party workers at the BJD’s ‘Jan Sampark Padyatra’ here today.

“This is not good for the greater interest of the country,” he added.

This is the second time Patnaik has accused national political parties within a week.

Patnaik had on Sunday accused national political parties of destroying federal structure of the country for their own vested interests, while repeatedly disappointing Odisha.

Patnaik then without taking name had said that they were misleading people by promoting a fake picture of development, as we had reported here.

The BJP has, however, termed Patnaik’s attacks on national political parties as intolerance on part of Patnaik towards the opposition.

“They are unable to tolerate the opposition parties and are attempting to suppress them by adopting different methods including through false propaganda. They are trying to contain BJP’s rise using different means but they are not going to succeed in that,” commented BJP state unit president Basant Panda.

The Congress, on the other hand, has held regional parties like BJD for the rise in corruption.

“Regional parties are exploiting the region. Both corruption and exploitation have risen during the 17-year regime of BJD,” said Congress Chief Whip in the State Assembly Tara Prasad Bahinipati in his comments on Patnaik’s statement on national political parties.
