Odisha CM condoles Kofi Annan’s death

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today condoled the death of former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, saying he” will be remembered for his efforts to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS”.

“Saddened by the passing away of former @UN Secretary-General & Nobel laureate Kofi Annan. He will be remembered for his efforts to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, role in conflict resolutions across the globe and protection of human rights. RIP #KofiAnnan,” Naveen tweeted.

Kofi Annan, who served two terms as the UN secretary General from January 1, 1997, to December 31, 2006, died aged 80.

His foundation announced his death in Switzerland today in a tweet saying that he died after a short unspecified illness.
