Odisha CM dedicates Biju Babu’s birthplace to state

Anand Bhawan, the birth place of former chief minister Biju Patnaik at Cuttack, was dedicated to the people of Odisha today.

Anand BhawanAccording to reports, two sons of Biju Patnaik—chief minister Naveen Patnaik and his elder brother Prem Patnaik dedicated the birthplace of their father after signing the documents at the district collector’s office here in presence of the sub-registrar.

Among others, Prem Patnaik’s son Arun Patnaik was also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the birthplace of his father would be used as a museum, library and a place of learning.

“I feel extremely happy after dedicating the birthplace of my father to the people of the state”, said Prem Patnaik.

As per information, the state government has decided to convert Anand Bhawan to a tourist place and a museum.

Efforts are on to officially declare this place as a museum on the birth anniversary of Biju Patnaik on March 5.

It may be mentioned that Biju Patnaik was born at Anand Bhawan on March 5, 1916. He had spent his childhood days with his father Laxminarayan Patnaik and mother Ashalata Devi. Later, he had completed his school and college education while staying there.

However, he left Anand Bhawan and kept it in charge of a caretaker after the death of his parents and stayed in Bhubaneswar after becoming the chief minister and later the Union minister.

His son Naveen Patnaik was also born at Anand Bhawan.
