Odisha CM felicitates sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik for Moscow glory

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today felicitated internationally acclaimed sand artist and Padma Shri Sudarsan Patnaik for winning a gold medal at ninth Moscow Sand Sculpture Championship “The magical world of sand” 2016 last Wednesday.

Chief Minister congratulated the renowned sand artist and presented silver filigree Konark wheel and a shawl.

Chief Minister praised Patnaik for making Odisha known in the international arena in sand art.

It may be recalled that the sand artist had carved a 15-feet sand sculpture — “Mahatma Gandhi sculpture for non-violence and peace” — in the week-long sand sculpture competition contest that started on April 21 at Kolomenskoye, Moscow.

Twenty top sculptors from across the world displayed their sculptures.

He has participated in over 50 international sand sculpture championships across the world and won many awards for the country.

Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda and Tourism Department Principal Secretary Gagan Kumar Dhal were present on the occasion.
