Odisha CM inaugurates Dharanidhar MCH in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: Scripting a golden chapter in healthcare services in Keonjhar district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated Dharanidhar Medical College and Hospital (MCH) here.

With launching of the long-awaited medical institution, people of the district will avail advanced healthcare services in the state-run hospital, which is an initiative under 5T programme of Odisha Government.

Set up over an area of 44 acre land at an investment of Rs 480 crore, Dharanidhar MCH is the 10th medical college in Odisha.

“I hope this medical college will provide quality healthcare services in Keonjhar,” said CM Patnaik adding, “one Cancer care unit and nursing college will be opened soon on its premises.”

The Dharanidhar medical college presently has 22 departments with strength of 55 teaching faculties and 28 senior residents and tutors.

Total 100 students from various states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha have been admitted to the Dharanidhar Medical College in the first batch for the academic session 2022-23. Of total students, 39 belong to state government schools in Odisha.

During the programme, students also shared their experiences with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the interactive session.

Besides, CM inaugurated 259 developmental projects worth Rs 4703.24 crore for the district at the event.
