Odisha CM inaugurates nursing college of SCB Medical

Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated several projects of SCB Medical College and Hospital including the much awaited nursing college.

The CM inaugurated an auditorium and Wi-Fi facility on the premises of the government-run medical college which attracts thousands of patients every day.

The nursing college will start B.Sc in Nursing course with 100 seats from 2018-19 academic session, which, according to hospital authorities, will give a major boost to healthcare facility of the premier hospital.

A new building for the college and hospital was built with an investment of Rs 20 crore.

Besides, a state-of-the-art auditorium, built at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore, got functional from today. The 1500-seated capacity auditorium was a long standing demand of the SCB Medical soon after the Medical Council of India (MCI) raised objection over lack of this facility.

Similarly, Patnaik also inaugurated a 30-bedded Urban Community Health Centre here at CDA Sector-7. It was built with a cost of Rs 5 crore.

Earlier in the day, the Commissionerate Police detained some BJP activists who were allegedly planning to hurl eggs on CM’s car but ended up doing so on police vans.
