The much awaited Close Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance project will be inaugurated in the city by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on February 5, sources in the commissionerate police said here today.
In the first phase of the project, a total of 28 CCTV cameras would be installed at various strategic locations in the city, the sources said.
Commissionerate police handed over the project to Odisha State Police Housing Cooperation (OSPHC) which in turn commissioned a private party to execute the project, which would cost Rs 23 crore.
“The CCTV project will be controlled from the control room at the Commissionerate Police headquarters. In the second phase, 40 more CCTV cameras will be installed in the city and 22 more in the third phase,” Manoj Chhabra, chairman of OSPHC, said.
